Jesse and Blaine | First Impressions
princeanderic:
The fact that the other man said nothing back to him, and even worse that he laughed made anger bubble up inside of Blaine like nothing else had in quite some time. Who did this guy think that he was? It was Blaine’s first day, he was a fellow worker; weren’t they supposed to be supportive of one another at Disney? A team? Surely his rude acquaintance hadn’t gotten that memo, and Blaine couldn’t help but dread the next time they’d be alone in the same room. Or just the next time Blaine would have to see him; he wanted nothing to do with the other man.
Unfortunately, life was not that kind. There was a mandatory meeting scheduled in the staff room that all of the face actors had to attend. And Blaine knew that despite the fact that the other man was incredibly arrogant, that he’d probably be punctual and show up.
However, what Blaine was not expecting was having to sit next to him. It was the only free chair in the entire staff room and he almost resolved to simply stand for the whole meeting, but several pairs of eyes were watching him, waiting for him to make a move, so with a heavy inward sigh, he settled into the chair beside the other man and folded his hands in his lap, jaw set.
It’d been easy to ignore him as the meeting began- Jesse was too accustomed at ignoring just about everyone. It wasn’t so much that he disliked his co-workers; He simply found no use in paying much mind to them, not when there was work to be done. Besides, years of working at the parks (and with lacking fools like Hudson) had left him far too clear on the realities behind the “magic”, and more amused in a rueful sort of way than anything else.
Still, seeing as he’d heard this introductory speech far too many times over the past few years, Jesse quietly observed the different faces in the room. Hummel over in the far end, with a characteristically uptight frown on his face. He was attractive, but far too up-wound for Jesse’s tastes, and it was probably because of that they’d never gotten long. Santana, who’d only started months before and was regularly made to switch between Pocahontas and Jasmine, characteristically standing next to Brittany. Her obvious affections for the other girl were widely known- yet, Jesse supposed, if she ever wanted to make her move she’d do so at her own pace. It wasn’t like it was his business, in any case.
A sharp stab in the heart followed his path as his eyes found Rachel’s face. She and Hudson were pressed close, hands firmly clasped and sneaking loving gazes that made Jesse want to heave. What she possibly saw in him was beyond him; Hudson was infamous amongst the park choreographers and show organizers for his ability to blunder even the simplest of moves, and of the time he’d heard him sing Jesse found his abilities lacking.
Truthfully, however, he found Finn entirely lacking. Turning away from ‘Finchel’ at the sign of movement next to him, Jesse respectfully clapped as Blaine was called forward to introduce himself, thoughts thankfully distracted as he smirked and watched the newcomer.
